Welcome to the Minelab resource page from Garys detecting, I am not claiming to be a minelab expert and this minelab information page is not the font of all knowledge, it is here to help people along with their new metal detector and give you a better insight into the most up to date set up guides and minelab products. The Minelab CTX is the newest edition to the Minelab stable, it boasts some very impressive cutting edge technology including GPS and a colour screen.
The Minelab E Trac is still the best selling multi frequency machine on the market and has been responsible for many great finds world wide, it can be set up and used in many ways to suit all different types of terrain and selected targets.
The X Terra range is not to be ignored, it is packed with the very latest technology and like all Minelabs it works very well on wet sand, the X terra 705 is my favourite "Terra" when used in all metal or prospecting mode can pick up the tiniest Roman or Medieval coin from impressive depths, the X terra has a nice large screen and several user options all built into a well priced package.
Finally the Minelab GPX 5000....wow what an animal of a machine ! the GPX is a pulse machine, originally designed for finding tiny nuggets of Gold in places where mineralisation is so bad a metal detector should never work. Over recent times UK detectorists have discovered that this machine can be adapted to find targets such as hoards and single coins at fantastic depths providing you take the time to learn this machine as it will be different to anything you have ever used. Providing you have the sites and mineralised soil, the GPX may be the only machine you will ever need !

The Minelab GPX 5000 information
The GPX 5000 is a very complex metal detector, it has been designed to find tiny Gold nuggets in extreme soil conditions, recently people have discovered how this machine can be adapted to suit their own detecting requirements, such as hoard hunting in the UK or finding deep hammered coins.
The iron rejection is limited, but a skilled operator can really unlock worked out sites with the GPX 5000

Who said the GPX can't reject iron !!~ I am no expert but it appears to be very simple to tell good from bad targets
Watch this video and see how it deals with iron on my contaminated test bed
